2013 FIAT 500 Abarth Cabrio Test Drive & Sport Compact Car Video Review

The 500 Abarth made its debut here in the U.S. last year as a 2012 model. Now we get the 2014 FIAT 500 Abarth Cabrio which is essentially a convertible. Now you can enjoy the wind through your hair as this peppy little sport compact car eats up the pavement. The base price on the FIAT 500 Abarth Cabrio is $26,000. FIAT has been looking to add range to the 500 model lineup in an effort to attract a broad range of car buyers; enter the 2013 FIAT 500 Abarth Cabrio. Up front the Cabrio has the same great Abarth looks that you would expect including the Scorpion badge, lower front fascia, and round headlights. Along the side are gorgeous 17-inch forged alloy rims, more Abarth badging, and chrome accents. Moving to the back is where you can see that the Cabrio is different. This car has a dual-layer power cloth convertible drop top that slides back to expose the interior of the car. Behind the wheel the interior is the same but now with the drop top removed there is a lot more light, wind, and sound coming into the passenger compartment. This lets you enjoy more of the 1.4 liter turbocharged engine up front. This motor is good for 160 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque while managing 28 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. Other great points on the 2013 FIAT 500 Abarth Cabrio are the pedal placement, tight steering, and great suspension. Overall the car is very fun to drive. The Abarth Cabrio is not a track focused monster, rather a great performing sport compact car for the street that includes a convertible top. FIAT has basically taken a car that is already fun and improved it by removing the top. In the end the Cabrio model only gains 33 lbs.
